About Us

Meet Jackson

Jackson’s passion is to help, guide & mentor the next generation of young high-level athletes to strive to become the best they can be. Become the best versions of themselves in all aspects of their sporting & life journey.

Jackson has a desire to pass along his experiences & lessons he’s learned throughout his journey within sport. To teach that strength comes from within, to accept that injuries & adversity are a part of the journey, to learn where true confidence & happiness comes from, to learn to enjoy sport & remove the stress & pressure sport can bring.

With an extensive career in sport & playing at a national level for rugby, Jackson travelled from Canada to Australia in pursuit to achieve his dream of playing professional rugby.

His dream came to a close with a career ending injury. From the tragic events he has redirected his passion into helping young athletes to learn the lessons from his experience. Now Jackson plays for Queensland Suns Men’s Netball, coaches netball teams and trains athletes to physically prepare for the next level of competition.

Meet Michael

Michael has always been passionate about sports, starting in Athletics in his younger years before eventually moving into his other passion Rugby Union. This passion led him to the Gold Coast, where he not only pursued his love of Rugby but also completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science. Currently, he’s diving deeper into his fascination for how the body works by studying Physiotherapy, all to ensure he is fully prepared to help athletes thrive in any situation.

Michael knows firsthand the incredible impact that a supportive training environment can have. Having trained in a facility much like Rivals, he experienced the benefits of not just improving his athletic performance but also building lasting relationships with his coaches. Now, as a coach at Rivals, Michael is excited to give back. His mission is to help young athletes not only excel in their sport but also to feel the same sense of community and encouragement that shaped his own journey. He’s here to help unlock their full potential,
both in sport and in life.

Meet Izzy

Isabelle started at Rivals in 2020 both coaching and training and returned in 2024. Her passion is to help athletes perform at their best in their sport and reach their full potential outside of sport. Isabelle completed her Bachelors in Exercise and Sports Science in 2019 and completed her strength and conditioning level 1 course. During this time, she had the incredible opportunity to undertake a Strength and Conditioning internship with the Australian Rugby Union Junior Wallabies. Since then, she has continued her career in sports and currently works as the athletic trainer and strength coach at Bond Pirates Rugby Union Club.

During her younger years, Isabelle was involved in rugby union, dance, swimming and surf lifesaving, competing at State and National Levels, however, recurrent injuries held her back. Her struggles with this and chronic illness whilst being an athletic individual led her to undertake a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology. Since completing this she strives to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance and encourage people of all abilities to follow their dreams in sport and life.

Growing up in Byron Bay, there were few programs like Rivals. However, Isabelle learnt the importance of community and attitude in growing as an individual and now hopes to create this supportive environment for all young people.

Become your Best A Parent’s Guide to Helping Their Daughters Grow On & Off the Court

The younger generations of girls face more negativity, drama, and self-esteem issues than we’ve ever seen before. This holds many young passionate netball athletes back who want to rise to their potential. It is difficult to thrive when negative thoughts in your own mind hold you down, you don’t love who you are, your worth is determined by things you can’t control, and you don’t have the resilience to deal with adversity. Because whether you like it or not, negativity, drama, and politics are hard to avoid entirely. So, we must take it upon ourselves to help create strong young women who are more than capable of becoming the best versions of themselves. When you are confident and happy, no amount of negativity can bring you down. Failure does not slow you down, instead helps propel you to grow. One girl at a time, the netball community will become more positive. But it starts with you and your daughter. It begins with the person in the mirror.
